We are busy with preparations for the upcoming MFC Maktab Program 2025-26 school year and have some good news to share! Though we still have limited space to offer a wide range of Islamic education classes for children in our community, we are opening registration in Quran and Islamic Studies classes to parents who have been on our Maktab Program waitlist.
Here are some important details to take into consideration. Note that it will be important to act quickly as enrollments will take place on a first-come, first-served basis.
🗓️ School Calendar: The Maktab Program will work into a year-long schedule that begins the week of September 21, 2025, and ends on week of June 14, 2026. That is a full 30 weeks of Quran and Islamic Studies classes.
📍Location: All classes will take place at the MFC Waterloo masjid. There are still layers of permitting and construction that have to be completed at the new building before we can move to our new space.
☪️ Curriculum: The Maktab Program mission is to empower Muslim youth with Islamic knowledge, values, and the confidence to lead lives of service, devotion, and positive impact. We operationalize this mission by providing top-quality Islamic education classes for children in our community.
Quran classes are organized into five levels of study beginning with Arabic letter recognition and pronunciation using the Noorani Qaidah and advancing to Quran Literacy classes, which focus on reading from the Mushaf with application of Tajweed rules and fluency. Upon completion of the curriculum, students should be able to independently read from the Quran to enhance their personal connection to Allah, further study, and memorization.
Islamic Studies classes are designed to empower students with knowledge and understanding of Islamic guidance. The Program uses the An-Nasihah textbook series and includes basic elements of:
Fiqh (worship)
Seerah (life and lessons from the Prophet Muhammad)
Tarikh (prophet stories)
Aqa’id (names and attributes of Allah)
Akhlaq (character)
Adab (manners)
Students in these classes are grouped by age to ensure instruction methods are age-appropriate and nurture close connections with their peers.
In all of our classes, we strive to create a welcoming learning environment led by dynamic teachers and role models who share their knowledge and passionately engage students with a wide variety of multimedia and hands-on activities. There are also opportunities for participation in service projects and events to showcase individual and collective achievements.
🔎Class Days/Times: Classes are scheduled to provide the maximum opportunity to select a day and time combination that works best for your schedule:
Sundays: Quran 10-11:15am; IS 11:30am-1:45pm
Monday/Wednesday evenings: Quran 6-7:15pm; IS 7:20-8:45pm
