Our Story

It started with parents who wanted to practice their faith with their children

Summer 2014

A search for the right space

As new parents, practicing our faith with our children mattered deeply to us. With Ramadan around the corner, we looked for programs where our whole family could benefit together, in one warm and inviting space. Close friends and other families were looking for the same thing, and nothing like it existed in the area.

Ramadan 2014

The first family-focused Taraweeh

That summer we started the first family-focused Ramadan Taraweeh program in Howard County. We kept it short for families with young children: half a Juz each night, with a break in the middle for a short talk and reflection.

The years after

Growing by word of mouth

That break gave families a chance to grow together. The program resonated with many hearts and grew faster than we ever imagined, carried from one family to the next.

Still who we are

Our Ramadan Taraweeh program continues to embody who we are and the values of Muslim Family Center.

These four areas are the foundation for our programs and services. We believe in serving locally, and people first.
