MFC (Ramadan 1446) Itikaf - 2025
Registration Form
Assalamu Alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu,
We are pleased to announce that the Muslim Family Center has made arrangements for Itikaf for brothers only in our Musallah (not Owen Brown) this year. Itikaf is a special time for spiritual reflection, prayer, and devotion, and we invite all community members to participate in this blessed practice.
Ali Ibn Hussain (RA) narrates from his father that the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said: “He who observes the ten days of Itikaf during Ramadan will obtain the reward of two Hajj & two Umrah.” (Bayhaqi)
There are two types of Itikaf in the last ten nights of Ramadan: Sunnah Itikaf and Nafl Itikaf.
Sunnah Itikaf: the individual must stay in the proper boundary of the mosque (i.e. the Musallah area) for the last ten nights of Ramadan, starting with Maghrib prayer of the 21st night through Maghrib prayer of Eid night, without leaving except for necessary reasons (e.g., using the restroom or commuting to Owen Brown for Jumua’ah and Taraweeh).
Nafl Itikaf: a voluntary Itikaf that does not require the same strict commitment as Sunnah Itikaf. The individual can intend to stay in the mosque for any amount of time with the intention of i’tikaf.
All participants (whole or any part of the last 10) must agree to the rules and register using the link below. However, we ask that you review the rules very carefully before registering. We want to highlight a few essential rules:
At this time, we can accommodate 20 brothers for i’tikaf at any given time. In registration, you will need to provide exactly which nights and days that you plan to be at the Musallah. First come, first serve.
All brothers who intend to perform Sunnah Itikaf should arrive at MFC before Maghrib on the first night (March 20th) of the last 10 days & nights of Ramadan.
Suhoor and Iftar will be provided complimentary of MFC.
Brothers must be 16 years or older to be permitted to sit in Sunnah Itikaf.
A guardian must accompany children. There are no exceptions to this rule.
No one is allowed to play outside (e.g., no basketball) between Maghrib and sunrise.
Please register as soon as possible!
