MFC (Ramadan 1447) Itikaf - 2026

Assalamu Alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu,

Alhamdulillah, the Muslim Family Center is pleased to announce arrangements for Itikaf for both brothers and sisters at MFC Gateway during the last ten nights of Ramadan.

Itikaf is a special time of spiritual reflection, prayer, and devotion. We invite all brothers and sisters to take part in this blessed Sunnah together at MFC Gateway.

Ali Ibn Hussain (RA) narrates from his father that the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said:

“He who observes the ten days of Itikaf during Ramadan will obtain the reward of two Hajj and two Umrah.” (Bayhaqi)

There are two types of Itikaf in the last ten nights of Ramadan: Sunnah Itikaf and Nafl Itikaf. 

  • Sunnah Itikaf: Remaining within the designated Musallah area at MFC Gateway from Maghrib on the 21st night of Ramadan until Maghrib at the completion of Ramadan, without leaving except for emergency reasons.

  • Nafl Itikaf: A voluntary Itikaf in which a brother or sister may intend to remain in the masjid for any amount of time with the intention of Itikaf, without the strict requirements of Sunnah Itikaf.

    Purity & Fiqh Requirements

  • Brothers and sisters observing Itikaf must be in a state of ritual purity and free from major impurity (janabah or menstruation). If an individual enters into a state of major impurity, the Itikaf is paused and the individual should leave the Musallah area until purity is regained.

  • Married sisters should ensure their family obligations and permissions are in place before performing itikaf overnight.

    Important Information

  • You must specify the exact nights and days you plan to attend during registration.

  • Those intending to perform Sunnah Itikaf must arrive before Maghrib on the first night of the last ten nights.

  • Suhoor and Iftar will be provided complimentary by MFC.

  • You must be 16 years or older to perform Sunnah Itikaf.

  • Minors must be accompanied and supervised by a guardian at all times. No exceptions.
