2026 Maktab Summer Camp

We strive to empower Muslim youth with Islamic knowledge, values, and the confidence to lead lives of service, devotion, and positive impact.

The Muslim Family Center is excited to announce the launch of our 2026 Summer Camp! The 4-week program is designed to provide an engaging and enriching educational experience for children ages 6-11. Here are the details.

NOTE THAT EVERY APPLICANT IS REQUIRED TO SUBMIT A NON-REFUNDABLE $50 DEPOSIT AT REGISTRATION. REGISTRATIONS WILL BE SECURED ON A FIRST-COME, FIRST-SERVED BASIS UNTIL WE REACH CAPACITY.

Goals:

There are four main goals that we will work to achieve:

  • Diversify our Islamic education offerings with top-quality programming that encourages students to learn about Islamic guidance and see the world through an Islamic mindset.

  • Utilize creative teaching strategies and resources that make learning about Allah and His guidance relevant and FUN!

  • Nurture students to develop a sense of pride in their Islamic identity through dynamic content and positive role models who demonstrate good character in their words and deeds.

  • Instill a strong sense of support and inclusion for our diverse MFC community.

Program Content:

Campers will be working throughout the school on the same content, creating many opportunities for multidisciplinary work and for children of various ages to learn and work together. The curriculum is based on weekly themes developed from Sound Vision Adam's World Academy online children’s offerings. Classroom instruction will be supplemented with subject-area videos that feature dynamic host teachers, extensive research on each topic, creative art projects led by an accomplished artist, and supplemental fact sheets, worksheets, and parent resources.

The schedule for this year’s curriculum includes:

🐜Week 1 (July 13-17): Knowing Allah through His Creation - The Quran speaks about 25 different animals/insects, and we will focus on five of them this week. This gives an opportunity for discussing how and why the creature was mentioned, their unique qualities, and Arabic vocabulary. We will also be highlighting one of Allah’s beautiful names each day.

🥛Week 2 (July 20-24):Foods Loved by the Prophet - We can increase our love for the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, by getting to know him. The Seerah is filled with references to foods that he loved, and we will feature five of them this week. We will learn about specific ingredients, how and where the food is grown, and even get a chance to taste them. While talking about foods, we will also be able to focus on the Islamic etiquette of eating and guidance about prohibitions.

🌍Week 3 (July 27-31): Celebrating Diverse Cultures - Our beautiful Muslim ummah is diverse and expansive, and believers live all over the world. This week, we will be “traveling” to five different countries (four Muslim and one non-Muslim country) to explore the geography and culture, regional wildlife, visit masaajid in the region, and sample favorite foods. We will work to identify community members who can join us in person to talk about their heritage and traditions. This was very enjoyable last year.

☕Week 4 (August 3-7): Muslim Inventions that Changed the World - It is important for Muslim children to learn about and value the amazing ways we have contributed to our world. This week, we will focus on five Muslim men and women inventors who utilized their intelligence, scientific knowledge, and creativity to discover inventions that changed the world. Some of these discoveries we are still using today, mashaAllah! We will also be highlighting one of Allah’s beautiful names each day.

Age Requirements:

This program is designed to provide an engaging and enriching educational experience for children ages 6-12.Students must have finished KG in the 2025-26 school year and be at least 6 years old by July 1.

A total of 70 students can be accommodated for the summer camp at the new Gateway building. Class groupings will ultimately be determined based on actual registrations.

Schedule:

The 4-week semester begins on Monday, July 13, and runs through Friday, August 7, 2026. The class time is scheduled Monday through Friday from 10am to 3pm.

The daily schedule will be apportioned with Islamic Studies content in the morning and Quran instruction in the afternoon. We will also focus attention on salat instruction daily in preparation for Dhuhr prayer. Here is the layout:

1:40-2:00 Quran Session 2:00-2:15 Movement Break/Snack

2:15-3:00 Quran Session continued

Lunch:

Students will be required to bring their own food and drinks. We will have access to refrigeration, but not a microwave or stove/oven. Strict attention to allergies and sensitivities will be conveyed if necessary, dependent upon student needs.

Friday, Jummuah Prayer:

Students will be on site to attend the MFC Jummuah prayer each week. There are two timings currently: one at 1:30 and the other at 2:40pm. The men’s overflow space is in our Maktab corridor. We will make determinations as to which prayer at a later date.

Class Placements:

For the Islamic Studies segment, students will be grouped based on age rather than Islamic knowledge. Instruction and activities will be age-appropriate within these separate classes. This will also encourage students to socialize with their peers and develop a strong connection to our school community.

For the Quran segment, students will be grouped according to their individual ability levels. The sessions will largely serve as review and enrichment rather than an opportunity for new instruction. Beginner students are also welcome. Teachers and teaching assistants will be hired to ensure a student/teacher ratio that supports progress over the semester. For Maktab students, placements will be determined from previous assessments; students outside the Maktab program will need to be evaluated for placement before the start of the camp sessions.

We expect great interest and have a limited number of spaces available. Registrations will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Please register asap to ensure a spot!
