Ayman Rahman
Board Member
Ayman grew up in Houston, Texas, where he was active in the Islamic Society of Greater Houston before moving to Virginia for his studies. He holds a BS in Polymer Chemistry from William & Mary and an MS in Medicinal Chemistry from VCU. Ayman is now a pharmaceutical executive overseeing North American Sales and R&D teams focused on developing innovative treatments to alleviate human suffering.
Ehab Hassan
Executive Director
Ehab Hassan has been active in Islamic work in the DMV area for over 20 years, serving on various boards and engaging the Muslim community through organizational leadership, creative programs, discussions, and sermons. He writes for MuslimMatters and shares uplifting messages through his work. Ehab is passionate about travel, acting, competitive sports, and spending time with family. Professionally, he is a Mechanical Engineer at the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory.
Khaled Helmi
Board Member
Khaled, a New York native who has lived in Maryland since age six, holds a Bachelor's in Information Systems and a Master's in Finance from the University of Maryland. He is passionate about creating Halal investment opportunities with a focus on purity. Khaled is also actively involved in supporting new Muslims, helping them navigate their faith and integrate into the community.
Yasmeen Abou-Sayed
Board Member
Yasmeen, a Texas native, moved to Maryland in 2003 and earned her Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Maryland. She works full-time at the FDA and part-time with CVS. Married with two energetic boys, she enjoys volunteering at their schools and supporting single mothers.
Sami Zaharna
Board Member & Lead Imam
Sami Zaharna, a Maryland native of Palestinian heritage, is the Lead Imam and an MFC Board Member. He holds a degree in Computer Science and multiple Ijazahs in Islamic studies, including Quran, Hadith, and Jurisprudence. A graduate of Al-Salam Institute under Sheikh Akram Nadwi, he is passionate about reviving the Prophetic model of Tarbiyah through community development. Sami lives in Maryland with his wife and four children.
Tubah Sultan
Board Member
Tubah Sultan, a Maryland native and University of Maryland graduate, holds degrees in Accounting and Information Systems. She spent nearly a decade in Big 4 Public Accounting while also founding the Center for Muslim Life at Maryland and helping launch the Muslim Alumni of Maryland Network. A new mom married to a volunteer firefighter/EMT, she enjoys reading, traveling, and reflecting on the intersection of psychology, faith, and metaphysics.
